St. George Medical Clinic warmly welcomes Lydia A. Davis, DO, to the area as she joins our medical staff. Lydia looks forward to providing comprehensive medical management, including annual visits, psychiatry, sports medicine, pediatrics, and other specialized care at our clinic.
To help our community get to know her better, we sat down with Lydia to discuss her personal connection to medicine and what she brings to St. George Medical Clinic as a newcomer to the area.
Question: What drove you to choose this career path?
Lydia A. Davis: I have always been fascinated with human science and behavior. I wanted a career that offered variety, posed challenges, and provided opportunities for continued learning while also allowing me to educate others.
Question: What activities are you involved with beyond what most people see?
Lydia A. Davis: I love spending time outdoors, whether it is skiing, fishing, or riding horses. I look forward to spending time with my 7 nieces and nephews. Beyond that, I enjoy traveling, live music, and my houseplants, and I have a passion for design.
Question: If you could give one piece of health advice, what would it be?
Lydia A. Davis: I would encourage anyone to find a fun way to keep moving. You have to make it fun, which often requires creativity and accountability.
Question: What are some misconceptions people often have about your job?
Lydia A. Davis: Many people assume that I have access to all of their healthcare history, but that is rarely the case. Electronic health records can rarely replace the value of the patient’s experience. The key, as well as the risk, is in the details!
Question: What is the most enjoyable part of your job?
Lydia A. Davis: I love to educate patients in relatable ways, creating confidence and security. Big results often start with simple, attainable changes.
Question: When not at St. George, what do you enjoy doing?
Lydia A. Davis: I admit that losing my phone and “getting off the grid” is often my goal when not at work.
Question: What might surprise people to know about you?
Lydia A. Davis: In a world that is so interconnected by technology, I avoid most forms of modern media.
Question: What community or volunteer activities do you participate in?
Lydia A. Davis: I am new, but familiar, with this community. I hope to eventually find the right church and to get involved with local wilderness medicine opportunities, as well as local equine organizations.
Question: What are some of your professional interests?
Lydia A. Davis: I am very interested in both gut medicine and mental health. These are two passions that I hope to expand on throughout my career.
Question: Share one fun fact about yourself.
Lydia A. Davis: I have two cats named after Dolly (Parton) and George (Strait).
Question: What do you look forward to most about your job?
Lydia A. Davis: I am excited to get to know my coworkers and to have fun with this community!
Question: Tell us more about you.
Lydia A. Davis: I am very passionate about rural healthcare and the integrated communication that it requires. I dream of a simple country life on a farm, with a large garden and horses, a complimentary long career in medicine and mental health care. Bringing people together and contributing to generational health improvement remain the goals. Hopefully, my patients and this community will inspire me to stay young, active, and sharp!
