Why We Opened a Clinic in Canaan Valley

September 2, 2022

Drum roll, please. We are excited to announce that our brand-new Canaan Valley clinic is now officially open and accepting patients. The clinic is located at 6368 Appalachian Highway in Davis and is conveniently located for folks in the Canaan Valley, Davis, Thomas, and Harman area, as well as throughout the Tucker County region.

To learn more about what this new clinic means for our community, we sat down with Paul Wamsley, St. George Medical Clinic CEO.

Question: What services will be offered, and will behavioral health services be included at this new location?

Paul Wamsley: This location will provide all the primary care services St. George patients have grown to love that are provided at our two other locations. We are also adding radiology, pharmacy, and behavioral health services to this clinic. We hope to expand in the future as we see a greater need for additional services as our community continues to expand and the need for healthcare increases throughout our region.

Q: What do you think is unique about the Canaan Valley Clinic location?

PW: We feel that our Canaan Valley location is unique in that we are providing for our residents, as well as our visitors that come to our beautiful area to travel and explore. Tucker County has always been a staple for visitors and now folks can get all their healthcare needs in one location right here in their backyard.

Q: What’s most exciting about the Canaan Valley clinic location?

PW: We feel that the public will be most excited about having a healthcare facility closer to home, with many of their healthcare needs and concerns being taken care of by trained healthcare professionals. We strive to offer the best healthcare to our communities and do so by having the best and most caring staff.

Q: What are some of St. George Medical Clinic’s goals with this new clinic?

PW: We hope that by providing services closer to home, we will see an increased awareness of health in our own communities. We truly care about our patients because we are your neighbors, family, and friends and we want what is best for our community.

Q: Why is it important to expand healthcare services across rural areas in West Virginia?

PW: Our local community hasn’t always had access to care, so by expanding healthcare services across rural areas, we are providing that access. We hope to improve the health of our patients and promote awareness of the importance of routine check-ups and preventative services.

The St. George Medical Clinic staff has also worked really hard to develop strong relationships with other healthcare facilities to bring services that otherwise wouldn’t be available in our area.

Q: Will patients need appointments, or will walk-in appointments be available?

PW: Patients are encouraged to schedule appointments, but walk-ins are welcome.

Q: What are the hours and days of operation?

PW: The Canaan Valley location will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturdays. The St. George Canaan Valley Pharmacy will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Over time, we plan to bring more services and providers to this clinic in Canaan Valley, as well as across all St. George Medical Clinic facilities.
